This project aims to visually articulate the conflict between the individual and the unconscious. Using water as the central symbolic medium, I combine static elements (the human figure) with dynamic components (water) to evoke the illusion of a struggle—an individual attempting to emerge from the depths of the unconscious. Movement, represented by the dynamic elements in the composition, symbolizes the elusiveness of the unconscious—an integral yet intangible aspect of the self.
Water, as a mythic and multifaceted element, stands for the unconscious: powerful, cleansing, but also overwhelming. The act of surrendering to it represents both the relinquishing of control and the confrontation with inner forces. This tension—between resistance and submission—becomes the central visual conflict within the photographs. Facial features and other markers of identity are deliberately obscured, suggesting a liminal state. The body blends into the surrounding ecosystem, dissolving the boundary between human and nature.
Importantly, water also serves as an optical illusion—mirroring the paradox of symbolic death and the impossibility of fully "drowning" the self. To evoke this effect, water must interact harmoniously with other natural elements.
This series is designed to be felt emotionally, not just perceived intellectually or sensorially. Its meaning is not fixed but invites individual interpretation, aiming to evoke a transcendent experience through aesthetic intuition.
